Fair Dinkum Builds
Sale
We are proud to be locally owned and family-operated since our inception. Our story began when Riviera Barns and Garages, Bairnsdale, expanded operations into Sale in response to growing demand.
The Fair Dinkum Sheds shopfront in Raymond Street was manned by our first staff member, Tim Wallace. As the business grew, Tim progressed from sales consultant to manager before becoming part-owner in 2021. We now employ a team of six staff, manage over 10 local contractors and have relocated to our Patten Street office and warehouse.
Since opening in 2017, our quality work has been rewarded with outstanding reviews and repeat customers.
We are part of the Fair Dinkum Builds nationwide franchise – one of Australia’s biggest and most trusted names in sheds. We are known for our customer service, quality workmanship and Australian-made materials such as COLORBOND®, Taurean® and Stramit®.
Whatever you need, we are here to guide you every step of the way, and our personalised approach means that your shed is designed and built to suit your specific requirements, with an emphasis on durability, functionality, and style.
Now you know what we can help you achieve, it’s time to contact Fair Dinkum Builds Sale and let us get started on your next project. We make the process simple and stress-free, offering full support from initial consultation to completion, leaving you with the shed, garage, carport, or patio that you’ve always dreamed of.

Custom Sheds, Garages & Carports Sale
To ensure your garage, shed, and carport can withstand anything thrown its way, we use durable, high-quality Australian steel. The steel can withstand debris during heavy winds and comes with a high heat resistance to prevent the structure from warping during hot summers. As the winters in Sale can be quite cold, we offer a range of cladding that increases the insulation to keep you toasty while working in your building.
Although our steel is expensive, it provides years of durable use without worrying about paying for any damages or replacement. Our Australian steel also comes with an impressive thirty-year warranty, so you don't need to worry about anything going wrong.
Your carport can be customised entirely to provide you with the perfect space for storing vehicles. Our carports provide protection and security for your cars, whether you are storing them temporarily in bad weather or looking for a secure long-term space, a carport can be ideal. Do I need planning permission to build a shed, garage, or carport in Sale?
Depending on your shed, garage, or carport size, you might need planning permission in Sale. Typically, you won't need planning permission if:
-
Your shed is smaller than 10 square meters and 3 meters in height
-
Your carport is less than 20 square meters on lots measuring 300 square meters or less
-
Your garage is not habitable and is not an appropriate setback from the property boundary (this distance can vary)
If your garage, shed, or carport does not meet these sizes, you will need to apply for planning permission with your local council. In Sale, there are specific guidelines for heritage areas and bushfire-prone zones, and it is important that you check all of these details carefully before submitting your application. We have years of experience designing sheds, garages, and carports in Sale and can help with the approval process if needed.
What materials are used for your buildings?
We only use the best, high-quality Australian steel for our buildings. Our steel is designed to provide superior durability and longevity for your building, so you don't need to worry about anything.
Where possible, we ensure that all materials are locally sourced and include a breakdown of all the additional materials used for your building, so you know exactly what it is made of.
Can I spread the cost of my shed, garage, or carport?
You can spread the cost of your shed, garage, or carport with our payment options. We know that paying for your build upfront can be challenging, and we have several options that allow you to spread the cost. The availability of our payment plans does depend on your location and design, so pop into our Sale showroom to learn more.
Can I install my own shed?
You can install your own shed kit, but for custom designs, we recommend having our team of builders install them for you. We work with the best builders across the country, including Sale, who will safely and efficiently install your shed. We include the cost of installation in the price of your shed, so let us take care of that and save you days of painstaking DIY.
How do I know my build is compliant?
Your build will come with certified engineering plans and certificates of compliance so that you know your build is safe and compliant. The certificates we provide will prove compliance with the National Construction Code and Building Code of Australia. You can use these documents to prove to your council that your builds are compliant if needed, or keep them for insurance purposes.
How are your builds priced?
Each one of our builds is priced individually by local Fair Dinkum Builds experts, considering your site and design choices. Every quote we offer includes the price of your design, engineering, installation, and the support you will receive, so there are no hidden costs or fees.
